Hi. I'm Olly.
I'm a writer and video games journalist currently based in Manchester, UK. You may know me from my extremely good tweets or my over-researched features on retro video games. When I'm not online, I'm relaxing with a good film or frantically tidying my house to be as spotless as you see in furniture catalogues.
You're likely here because you're interested in working with me. Whether you're pursuing an attentive writer, a decent video editor, or an expert in the craft of audio production, all the details you should require can be found below.
Since 2016, I have worked as a freelance video games journalist in both print and online media covering reviews, features and news for publications such as Wireframe Magazine, Pocket Gamer, Bloody Disgusting, Den of Geek, and The Indie Game Website. Since 2015, I have also run my own website, New Game+, which is dedicated to valuable critical discussion of video games both old and new. You can read a few samples of my work below.
Death Stranding review (published Jul. 14th, 2020)
Zombie Army 4: Dead War review (published in Wireframe Magazine issue no. 35, March 2020)
How Ashen reinvents the Soulslike (published Jan. 10th, 2020)
Bloodborne has really satisfying door animations (published Jul. 19th, 2019)
Before games journalism, I used to work as a production assistant at a radio station. Nowadays, I still utilise those skills in audio production to create and appear on podcasts. In 2019, I ran a short-lived show called Mars is Real with my friend Soph. Right now, I co-host the official New Game+ podcast called The Lag. I have also appeared on podcasts such as Toad on Games and PAL Keys.
I have experience working with video, both in recording, streaming and editing footage before uploading it to a site such as YouTube or Twitch.
