University Act III, Chapter 2

The second term of my final university year is starting and I'm ready to put my back into some hard work. During the first two years of my studies, I (admittedly) slacked off quite a bit. I would do my essays 2-3 days before the deadline and I would spend most of my time socialising or playing video games. Sometimes both at the same time.

Though I did put in the extra effort with a few assignments during those years, and it was easy to spot which ones were which. The ones which I spent several weeks on would get a first or 2:1 (60-70%), whereas my minimal effort work got 40-50%. The lowest score I got was a 38 once, which isn't even a pass. I remember being too embarrassed to even tell my friends about my results because they'd say "oh I only got 57%". I'm not proud of it, which is why one of the things I promised myself when entering third year is to work harder. During the first term, I completed two assignments a whole month in advance, and I've made good progress with my writing project due in at the end of the year.

So, one of my new year's resolutions for this year is to keep up the good work. Complete everything in advance, and there will be time for fun and games later. Even if I don't get the results I had hoped for, the important part will be that I've learned a lot about personal responsibility and deadlines, a skill that will carry over into the rest of my adult life. I have a good feeling about 2016, mark my words.
